Lumbini Province MP Nima Giri has started a new practice in Parliament. She has decided to review her work among the public by making her annual achievements public.

Giri, who entered Parliament after taking oath on 17th Poush 2079, has been making her progress report public every year. She has mentioned in the report how many Parliament meetings were held annually, how many meetings she attended, what issues she raised, and how much of them were heard.

She made her report public on Wednesday, including her role in and outside the House in the last one year. Earlier, she had made the first and second year reports public. In the third report, Giri has made public the achievements of 366 days from 1st Magh 2081 to 30th Poush 2082.

According to the report, Giri was present for 83 percent of the time, out of a total of 41 hours and 51 minutes spent in the 18 meetings of the House during this period. She spoke 5 times and presented her views in the House for 45 minutes. ‘I raised the people’s issues as a representative of the people in the Parliament. The people should know how much of them have been implemented,’ she said, ‘This is my accountability to the people. I must justify the work I have done as an MP.’

Among the issues she raised in the House, the ‘My School, My Responsibility’ program is continuously operating, while procedures have been formulated for the formation of the Provincial Project Bank, institutional memory transfer, and the Provincial Development Council. Similarly, budget allocations have been made for giving priority to employment to the Gen-Z generation and for the implementation of the Good Governance Act and have reached the implementation stage. Under the prison and juvenile reform home reforms, a library has been established and meditation and yoga programs have been conducted.

Giri has raised the issue of amending the Citizenship Act, making good governance and transparency the main agenda in the House. She took the initiative to move an amendment proposal in the National Assembly in coordination with members of the Federal Parliament, demanding that married women should be allowed to obtain citizenship even on the recommendation of their relatives.

Similarly, she has also raised her voice on issues such as health insurance for athletes, respect and inclusion of the backward classes, and allowance arrangements for single women affected by conflict. She has also prioritized making employee transfers and promotions transparent, protecting public property, and improving the functioning of the Internal Revenue Office.

She has continuously drawn attention to the issues of reducing road accidents in the law and security sector, improving the licensing system, and reforming prisons. She has also put forward a proposal to launch the 'One Person, 100 Trees' campaign under the social campaign, to award the 'Shravan Kumar Samman Award' to families who respect their parents, and to name infrastructure after people who have contributed to the country but have been overlooked.

She has submitted this report to the Lumbini Provincial Assembly and urged the Speaker to place it in the pigeon hall of all provincial members. Speaker Tularam Gharti Magar said that this was a very beautiful and responsible work and that it was a new work that other members of the Provincial Assembly should learn from.

Giri from Jhimruk Rural Municipality-7 in Pyuthan has become a proportional representation MP from the Nepali Congress. Giri, who rose to politics from a student organization, is also an advocate. She had been raising her voice on social issues since her student days.
