In the eighth meeting under the seventh session of the Lumbini Provincial Assembly,  Provincial Assembly members expressed their views on Wednesday on issues related to the federal and provincial governments.

Provincial Assembly member Raju Prasad Shrestha said that the government should be successful in maintaining good governance as per the people's expectations. Claiming that it is illegal to take the former Prime Minister and former Home Minister into custody, he demanded their unconditional release. He commented that the provincial government has been confused after the Genji movement and that it seems that its vitality and courage have waned.

He was of the opinion that the province should be strengthened as an autonomous and living institution, expressing his commitment to the constitution with federalism.

Provincial Assembly member Nima Giri expressed her gratitude to those who protected the property of the province in the context of the damage to government and private property during the Genji movement. She suggested working according to the spirit of the constitution and the manifesto and said that not only swift but also fair action is necessary. She alleged that the arrests started within an hour of the appointment of the Home Minister without discussing the Karki Commission report were vindictive.

Provincial Assembly member Chandrakesh Gupta urged the federal government to guarantee the security of Nepali citizens abroad. He also demanded that political appointments in Lumbini Buddhist University and Lumbini Development Fund be canceled and local people be given responsibility. Provincial Assembly member Indra Kumari Gahatraj said that the Genji movement had suffered unexpected losses due to infiltration. She said that how responsible the government is towards the people should be seen from practice.

Provincial Assembly member Yam Bahadur Nepali Sarki informed that efforts are being made to make the Dalit Rights Bill effective. He stressed that this bill, which concerns about 735,000 citizens, should be taken seriously. Provincial Assembly member Meena Kumari Shrestha drew the government's attention by saying that the problem of fertilizer and seeds for farmers has not been resolved despite repeated raising.  Provincial Assembly member Giridhari Lal Neupane commented that the arrest of the former Prime Minister and former Home Minister is against democratic values, the constitution and civil liberties.
