Lumbini Province has launched a data management information system. Chief Minister Chet Narayan Acharya said that the data management information system has been launched to make the evidence-based decision-making process effective.

He said that the provincial government is adopting various measures to enhance transparency based on the belief that citizens should be informed about the work done by the three-tier government.

Acharya said that the data management system is an important asset for the province and information and details of all three tiers will be included in this system. He informed that 109 municipalities of the province will be connected to it.

Chief Minister Acharya said that the responsibility has been given to the Provincial Information Technology Foundation for the regular update and operation of the system. He emphasized that the foundation should take the lead in its effective implementation, not just the inauguration.

Provincial Planning Commission Vice-Chairman Dr. Dilliraj Aryal said that the system has been built keeping good governance promotion, service delivery and accountability at the center. He said that fact-based planning, implementation of periodic plans and regular monitoring will be strengthened through this system. It also includes statistical analysis of the performance and achievements of the province since its establishment.

The system has been developed in 34 areas, covering a total of 1,196 data variables. In addition, a separate national-level data set has been prepared, including 42 variables. 164 indicators have been developed to present information easily and clearly through the dashboard.

The Provincial Planning Commission has prepared the system in collaboration with the UK International Development Cooperation, The Asia Foundation and Sewa Pratishthan Nepal. At the event, Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Kapri said that the system has been developed according to the concept of smart governance.

The Asia Foundation's Impact Director Quarolyn O'Donnell and Director Pranay Sthapit gave information about the system.

It covers the performance of the province since its establishment, thematic details, goals of the second periodic plan, data storage and evaluation aspects. The program was facilitated by Khi Bahadur Kunwar, Secretary of the Provincial Planning Commission.
