A young woman was found burnt on Sunday morning in Koreanpur, Nepalgunj, Banke. She was found burnt on the road. 22-year-old Sirjana Budha Magar (Gita) was already dead when the police rescued her and took her to the hospital. According to the police, a police team immediately reached the spot after receiving information about a woman setting herself on fire on the road in Koreanpur at around 11:35 pm on Saturday. The injured woman was immediately rescued and taken to Bheri Hospital, where doctors declared her dead at 1:20 am on Sunday. The police have intensified the investigation as the nature of the incident appears suspicious. The deceased also has a three-year-old daughter. Sirjana's aunt Goma Lama and her relatives have accused her lover of setting her on fire alive and throwing her on the road. The family of the deceased is currently refusing to accept the body. They have taken a stand that they will not take the body until the culprit is arrested.
The accused Md. Arif Dhapali, his mother and sister, and other people have been taken into custody by the police in this regard.
The incident took place near the house of the accused man Dhapali, but since the place where the incident took place was not near the deceased's room but near the house where he came from, further investigation is underway, said Angur GC, Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Banke.
It is yet to be clear whether the deceased was murdered or not, and the police have said that an investigation is underway, including a post-mortem of the body.
