A woman has been murdered in a land dispute in Baijnath Rural Municipality-5, Chamania, Banke. The deceased's house was also set on fire.
According to the Area Police Office, Kohalpur, the deceased has been identified as Bhagwani Tharu, 55, of Chamania, Baijnath Rural Municipality. The woman was killed by a sickle attack around 10 am on Tuesday. Police Inspector and Information Officer Ram Narayan Gupta said that the Tharu who was hit by the sickle died on the spot.
According to him, Sitaram Tharu, 55, of the same place, who was involved in the murder of the woman by using the sickle, has been arrested. He said that the Tharu also seriously injured Bhagwani's son, 35, by hitting him with the sickle. Arjun Tharu, who suffered a serious head injury, is currently undergoing treatment.
The Area Police Office, Kohalpur, has said that Sitaram has been arrested and an investigation is underway on charges of involvement in the murder of the woman.
According to Kohalpur police, the incident occurred due to a land dispute. The deceased Bhagwani and Sitaram are neighbors. They had been in a dispute over the use of land near their house for some time.
