Police have seized goods worth Rs 870,320, illegally imported by evading customs from various places in Rupandehi.

A team deployed from the District Police Office, Rupandehi, seized the goods while conducting checks in various places in the district. The police have said that the seized goods have been sent to the Animal Quarantine Office, Bhairahawa and the Customs Office, Belhiya for necessary action.

According to the police, 14 broiler chickens along with a motorcycle with the number UP 56 A 3489 worth Rs 50,000 have been seized from Bodhbarbar, Rohini Rural Municipality-6. 23 pieces of ladies' suits worth Rs 84,000 and eight sacks of groceries have been seized from Belhiya, Siddharthanagar Municipality-1, Rupandehi Chief Superintendent of Police Janak Bahadur Shahi said.

Similarly, 34 kg of betel nut worth Rs 13,600 were seized from Butwal Sub-metropolitan City-2, Pakhapani, and 285 pieces of kurta-suruwal worth Rs 142,500 were seized from Siddharthanagar-2, Keutolia, police said. 264 pieces of bras, 276 pieces of panties and 20 pieces of lungi worth Rs 97,000 were seized from Mayadevi Rural Municipality-8, Uchimi.

110 kg of broiler chickens along with a motorcycle bearing the number UP 56 P 9446 worth Rs 75,920 were seized from Kotahimai Rural Municipality-3, Kudsar, and 180 kg of broiler chickens along with a motorcycle bearing the number UP 10 BS 2327 worth Rs 70,000 were seized from Rohini Rural Municipality-6, Orhawa, police said.

200 kg of raw kerau worth 20,000 rupees were recovered from Mayadevi Rural Municipality-5 Pasahawa and 100 kg of raw kerau worth 7,000 rupees were recovered from Lumbini Cultural Municipality-13 Kalidaha, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Krishna Kumar Chand, spokesperson of the District Police Office, Rupandehi.

Similarly, 35 pieces of ladies' suits worth 142,000 rupees, a bag of bicycle parts, 10 pieces of pesticides and 750 kg of kerau were recovered from Siddharthnagar Municipality-1 Meudihawa, according to the police. The seized goods have been sent to the concerned agency for necessary legal action, according to the District Police Office, Rupandehi.
