On the occasion of the 44th Magar Unity Day, eight rural municipalities, including two municipalities in Palpa, have declared a public holiday on Friday.
The local public holiday has been declared as the Magar community celebrates Falgun 15 as Magar Unity Day and festival. It has been decided to declare a public holiday in all offices, educational institutions, health institutions and other public organizations under two municipalities and eight rural municipalities for one day on the occasion of the National Magar Unity Day.
On the occasion of the Unity Day, programs including tableau performances based on Magar culture have been organized in various places in all municipalities. Almost all municipalities have also allocated budgets to celebrate Magar Day.
Tansen Municipality, Nisdi Rural Municipality, Mathagadhi Rural Municipality, Tinau, Baganaskali, Rainadevi Chhahara, Rambha, Ribdikot, Purbakhola Rural Municipality in the district have declared a local public holiday for one day. On the occasion of the day, Magar youth leader Rajan Balal said that preparations have been made for the Magar Unity Day and cultural festival in Mathagadhi-3 and Sarai. The Nepal Magar Association has stated that there will be a display of local art and culture, Magari food, Magari costumes, etc.
Nepal Magar Association Palpa President Sher Bahadur Somai Magar said that the day will be celebrated with the aim of preserving and promoting art, language, and costumes based on Magar culture. There is a program to present various tableaux popular in the Magar community, including Jhyaure, Salaijo, Krishna Charitra Thulo Nach, Thado Bhaka, Yanimaya.
