Police have arrested a person on charges of involvement in the incident of burning a flag bearing the election symbol of the CPN (UML) at Birendra Chowk, Tulsipur Sub-metropolitan City-5, Dang.

According to the District Police Office, Dang, a video of some unidentified individuals burning the UML flag among a crowd gathered to welcome the President of the National Independent Party (RSP) on Falgun 20 was received on social media.

Based on the investigation conducted on the basis of the video, the police have taken 55-year-old Buddhi Bahadur Basnet, a resident of Kalakhola, Tulsipur Sub-metropolitan City-7, who was identified as being involved in the incident, into custody on Falgun 20. He was arrested by a team deployed from the District Police Office, Dang.

The police have stated that the search for other individuals involved in the incident is ongoing.

As the election time approaches, the Nepal Police has requested all stakeholders to refrain from activities that may disrupt peace, security and social harmony and to display restrained and responsible behavior.
