Preparations are underway to vaccinate more than 4,000 teenage girls in the district against the virus (HPV), which causes cervical cancer in women.
It is said that more than 4,000 girls in the district will be vaccinated against HPV in the campaign that will start from Magh 25.
All girls studying in grade 6 and girls studying in grades 7 to 10 who missed the vaccination last year will be vaccinated against HPV.
Girls aged 10 to 14 in the community will also be vaccinated, said Raju Kumar Khadka, focal person for the health office vaccination program. ‘The health office plans to vaccinate 4,700 girls this year,’ he said, ‘There is a plan to vaccinate girls who missed last year this year.’
Chief District Officer Gogan Bahadur Hamal said that everyone should help make the vaccination campaign successful by creating an environment so that girls in the target group are not left out.
