DSP Devendra Kumar Malla said that four people who were protesting in front of the District Police Office were taken into custody. Among those arrested are a young woman and three young men.
Accusing that the election police were selected based on accessibility and demanding correction of the public results, disgruntled youths had surrounded the District Police Office and the District Administration Office on Tuesday.
‘Chief District Officer Gogan Bahadur Hamal had said that the copies would be re-checked after those who were dissatisfied with the results submitted applications,’ said Anup Murau of Gulariya-10. ‘Accordingly, the police used force to take my friend under control when I went to collect the applications on Wednesday morning.’
The district had opened 2,250 election police applications. Of these, 4,400 people had registered their applications during the specified period from Poush 25 to Magh 1. The Election Police Recruitment, Selection and Appointment Committee had made the final results public on Tuesday morning, with 2,250 passing. After that, the disgruntled youths had taken to the protest.
