In Arghakhanchi, which is home to one constituency of the House of Representatives, most of the polling stations in remote settlements are on the highly sensitive list. Of the 209 polling stations in the district, 101 are on the list.

Of these, 37 polling stations are highly sensitive, 40 are sensitive and 25 are normal, said Assistant Chief District Officer Jhavilal Bhattarai.

‘Where there are polling stations with geographical complexity, they have been kept in highly sensitive,’ he said, ‘such places are in places like Siddhara, Simalpani, Jaluke in Shitaganga Municipality. Places with easy access to the district headquarters and easy transportation, geographical convenience have been kept in normal.’

Most of the settlements in Shitaganga are scattered, with more forest areas than houses. From where voters have been walking for hours to reach the polling station and cast their votes. He said that additional security strategies will be adopted to ensure that voters can easily reach the polling station from their homes and vote for the candidate of their choice.
