The second meeting of the winter session of the Lumbini Provincial Assembly is being held today at 1 pm. The first meeting of the seventh session was held on November 21. The second meeting, which has not been held since then, is being held today.
According to Lokmani Pandey, Deputy Secretary for Law and Spokesperson of Lumbini Provincial Assembly, the possible agenda includes Speaker Tula Ram Gharti Magar informing the assembly about the vacancy of provincial assembly members for the second meeting of the seventh session of the provincial assembly, provincial assembly members speaking on contemporary issues at special times, a bill to make provisions regarding pesticide management and regulation, and Chief Minister Chet Narayan Acharya presenting the bill to make provisions regarding the Lumbini Research and Training Institute, which was returned from the office of the provincial chief, to the assembly for theoretical discussion and answering questions raised in the theoretical discussion.
The meeting of the work management committee is being held at the provincial assembly secretariat at 11 am. Provincial assembly secretary Durlabh Kumar Pun said that the meeting will decide the final agenda. The provincial assembly secretariat stated that the meeting could not be held for a long time after the first meeting due to festivals of various castes, conventions of political parties and other political activities, and the national assembly elections. Speaker Gharti Magar said that the next meeting will be held regularly.
Four members of the Lumbini Provincial Assembly have resigned and become candidates for the House of Representatives. NCP's Dhan Bahadur Maski, elected from the then Maoist Center from Dang 3(2), Krishna KC, elected from Banke 1(1), Civil Libertarian Dharma Bahadur Chaudhary, elected from Bardiya 2(2), and Democratic Socialist Party's Kanhaiya Baniya, elected from Rupandehi 4(1), have resigned from the Provincial Assembly and become candidates for the House of Representatives. With four posts vacant, the 87-member Provincial Assembly is now 83 members.
