Voting for the selection of members of the National Assembly of Lumbini Province has concluded. The voting, which began at 9 am at the Ghorahi-based Employee Meeting Center, concluded at 3 pm.

286 votes have been cast in the election. Of which 78 people, 48 men and 30 women, voted for the Provincial Assembly members, and 208 people, 123 men and 85 women, voted for the local level. 5 people for the Provincial Assembly members and 8 people for the local level were absent from voting.

There are 87 Provincial Assembly members and 305 voters, including 218 mayors and deputy mayors of 109 local levels, in Lumbini Province, and there are currently 299 voters. The number of voters has decreased as 4 Provincial Assembly members and one municipal mayor resigned to become candidates for the House of Representatives election and one municipal mayor is vacant.

Election Officer Prakash Prasad Pandit informed that preparations are underway to count the votes in a few minutes and announce the results today. Eight candidates are competing for the three National Assembly members from Lumbini Province. There are three candidates from the Congress-UML alliance, three from the Nepali Communist Party, and two from the Rastriya Janamorcha.

Three members are being elected from Lumbini Province, including women, disabled/minority and others. For which, the Congress and the UML have coordinated to register their candidacies. The UML had a women's quota, while the Congress had a quota for the disabled and other groups. Accordingly, Ram Kumari Jhankri of Madane Rural Municipality-4, Gulmi is the candidate from the UML.

Basudev Ghimire of Lamahi Municipality-3, Dang is the candidate from the disabled quota from the Congress, and Chandra Bahadur KC of Resunga Municipality-3, Gulmi is the candidate from the other quota. They are old leaders of the Congress.

Similarly, the Nepali Communist Party has also fielded candidates for all three members. Durga Kumari Bhandari of Barangdi Rural Municipality-1, Palpa is the candidate from the women's quota, Sarjan Bik of Baijanath Rural Municipality-5, Banke is the candidate from the disabled quota, and Brihaspati Adhikari of Bardaghat Municipality-14, Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta West) is the candidate from the other quota.

There are candidates from the Rastriya Janamorcha in the women and other quotas. Padma Pandit of Pyuthan Municipality-8, Pyuthan is competing in the women's category and Bom Bahadur Khatri of Mallarani Rural Municipality-2, Pyuthan is competing in the others category.

The terms of Gopal Bhattarai, elected from the UML, Bimala Ghimire, Vice President of the National Assembly, and Jag Prasad Sharma of the then Maoist Center, are ending on Falgun 20. Bhattarai, Ghimire, and Sharma were members from the disabled quota.
