Police opened fire to take control of drug dealers on the evening of December 23. Police opened fire and succeeded in taking control of drug dealers from Lalpur, Gulariya Municipality-11.

Based on information about drug dealing, a joint team of the Narcotics Control Bureau Branch Office, Banke and Bardiya Police arrested 33-year-old Firoz Khan of Motipur village, Bahraich police station, Uttar Pradesh district, India. 

The police have seized 266 grams and 560 milligrams of drugs, along with a brownish-colored substance resembling brown sugar, from Khan and are investigating after obtaining a 20-day remand from the court.

On Poush 5, the police arrested 28-year-old Krishna Khatri of Bansgadhi Municipality-3 with 10 grams and 80 milligrams of drugs. Similarly, in Poush, the police have arrested 8 people with 279 grams and 970 milligrams of drugs.

The district police has stated that 1,409 people have benefited from 35 awareness programs in Poush to reduce drug use.  The district police have said that 130 people have been arrested with drugs since Shrawan of the current fiscal year 082/083.

Superintendent of Police Saroj Poudel said that those involved in drug crimes are being brought to justice. ‘The police are doing their best to reduce drug trafficking,’ said Superintendent of Police Poudel. ‘Crime can be controlled if information is received in time, so there is a need for cooperation from the general public.’ 

The District Police Office has registered 56 drug crime cases in the fiscal year 079/080, 124 in the fiscal year 080/081, and 136 in the fiscal year 081/082, according to the data. According to the data, drug crime cases in the district are increasing every day. Since drugs are easily available in the border Indian market, there is a challenge in reducing it.
