Anil Tharu, the husband of 22-year-old Anju Tharu of Dakshin Bhakari, Badhaiyatal Rural Municipality-4, who was forced to choose the path of death due to lack of citizenship, has been sent to remand for trial in a case of abetment to suicide.

The bench of District Court Judge Dalluram Chaudhary on Wednesday ordered Anil of Badhaiyatal Rural Municipality-4, Dakshin Bhakari, to be remanded in custody for trial.

After Anju's death, a case of abetment to suicide was filed against Anil at the Area Police Office, Mainapokhar. On December 29, Anil was arrested by the police from Golpark, Kohalpur Municipality-11, Banke. Anil had brought Anju into his house after applying vermilion in the temple. Anju gave birth to her daughter Anita at Anil's house. After that, Anil stopped caring for Anju.

After Anil ignored Anju, Anju was forced to live with her relatives. Anju, who was neglected by her husband, had approached the court demanding a share. The court had ruled that Anil should give the share to Anju and her daughter Anita. However, the court's decision was not implemented.

Anju had problems getting a share because she did not have citizenship. After failing to get citizenship despite many attempts, Anju committed suicide at home on 22 Kartik, while her father, 61-year-old Kanchha Tharu, who had been struggling for justice with her, also followed his daughter's path four days later.
