Lumbini Province Chief Minister Chet Narayan Acharya has said that the traditional art and culture of the Tharu community should be linked to tourism development.
Inaugurating the Magh Cultural Festival organized by Tharu Welfare Society Dang on Saturday in Ghorahi, Acharya said that art and culture can be made a source of income.
He said that the cultures of the Tharu community should not be limited to the Magh festival only, but regular exhibitions should be arranged to attract domestic and foreign tourists.
He expressed the view that the Tharu Museum should be used to transfer the art, culture, civilization and traditions of the Tharu community to the new generation.
Informing that Tharu museums have been built in different places from the budget of the provincial government, he said that it is necessary to use the museum as a common center where one can learn about the costumes, culture and traditions of the Tharu community across the country.
He said that the diversity in art and culture along with geographical diversity is the identity and asset of Lumbini Province.
