Two killed as bus hits motorcycle

Two people have died after a bus hit a motorcycle in Gulmi.

Basanta Aryal, 36, and Manakala Aryal, 60, of Malika Rural Municipality-6, Arjai, died, said DSP Ganga Bahadur Saru, Information Officer of the District Police Office, Gulmi.

The accident occurred when a boarding school bus going from Arjai to Vanbhoj hit a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction.

Anubhav Giri, 6, who was riding the motorcycle, was injured in the accident and has been sent to Lumbini Medical College Prabhas Palpa for treatment. Teacher Lilavati Aryal, who was a pedestrian injured in the incident, is undergoing treatment at Gulmi Hospital.

Two people were declared dead by Gulmi Hospital at 11 am in the accident that occurred at 7:30 am.

A bus bearing Lumbini Province 01-00 Kha 0355 hit a Honda motorcycle bearing Lu 9 Pa 8150. The bus driver and the bus have been taken into police custody.

The deceased Manakala was returning from her daughter's house. Basanta, who is related to her brother-in-law, was an employee of the post office. The injured child is Manakala's grandson. Gulmi Hospital is preparing to conduct a postmortem only after the relatives of the deceased arrive.
