Butwal Street Food Festival: Over 100 dishes at 55 stalls

What you should know

A three-day street food festival has begun in Butwal from Tuesday.

The festival, which will run until Thursday, is organized by the Hotel and Restaurant Entrepreneurs Association of Rupandehi and has begun under the patronage of the Butwal Sub-metropolitan City.

Respect for Nepali original art and culture, taste and identity, promotion of domestic tourism, development and employment creation is our campaign, said Madhav Khanal, President of the Hotel and Restaurant Entrepreneurs Association of Rupandehi.

He said that the food festival will not only promote tourism but also promote and market Nepali art, culture and food dishes.

He said that this year, the stalls have been constructed at the festival venue in a way that does not affect traffic due to the difference and new style. ‘The specialty of the festival is the taste and dishes of new food prepared by Butwal,’ he said, ‘You will be able to taste more than 100 dishes on the road.’ He said that there will be 55 stalls of various kinds at the festival.

Stalls of original dishes from various communities have been set up in the festival. There will be 2 stalls from Tharu, 7 from Newari, and 1 from Magar communities. The organizers estimate that the festival will cost around 3 million rupees to manage.

CCTV and security companies have been arranged for security management at the festival.

Food dishes will be available on the streets from 6 pm to 11 pm during the three-day street food festival. The association has been organizing the street food festival since 2075.

This year's food festival will be visited by more than 200,000 visitors, and the organizers estimate that the turnover will be more than 20 million rupees.
