The Food and Management Trade Center, Rajapur, has purchased 26,000 quintals of rice as of Friday. This year, the food department had a target of purchasing 30,000 quintals of rice.
So far, 26,000 quintals of rice have been purchased, said Kamal Pandey, head of the food center. “It will be closed after purchasing 4,000 quintals,” he said, “The government has fixed a quota of 30,000 quintals of rice.”
The Food and Management Trade Center, Rajapur, has been purchasing rice since Kartik 19. This year, the food center has established rice purchasing depots in Gulariya, Shantibazaar and Jayajagar besides Rajapur.
Rice purchasing was stopped at the Rajapur food center for a few days after the crowd could not be contained even after the coupon system was implemented.
While selling rice, farmers have to submit the recommendation of the ward, a copy of citizenship, and a copy of the red paper to the sales center. This year, the government has fixed the price of coarse rice at Rs 3,463.81 and fine rice at Rs 3,628.33.
