Finance Minister Rameshwor Khanal has said that there is no alternative to elections to resolve the current crisis as economic indicators will not improve unless there is political stability. He has also urged political parties to be committed to the government's efforts to create an environment for elections.
Inaugurating the '16th National Industrial Exhibition Agriculture, Technology and Tourism Festival 2082' organized by the Rupandehi Industry Association in Butwal from Thursday, Finance Minister Khanal said that thinking about the election alternative has brought the country to disaster.
'As long as there is no political stability, the economic indicators cannot be good, there is no alternative to holding the election on time to resolve the current crisis,' he said, 'The government is determined to hold a fair, free and fearless election. There is no alternative to supporting the government's resolve.' He said that many parties and even neighboring countries are positive for the election. Although he did not say it clearly, he had urged the Congress and the UML to prepare for the election in roundabout language. 'All parties should pay attention to the election,' he added.
Finance Minister Khanal also said that an investment environment is now being created. He claimed that low price increases are happening for the first time in the history of Nepal. 'This is a relief for the common consumer. Economic activity has expanded,' he said, 'currency reserves have increased and capital reserves in the financial system have also increased.' Therefore, he said that a more suitable environment could not be created for investment. He also said that the interim government and the private sector are going to implement the relief program immediately.
He said that since Butwal is already an industrial hub, the government is making every effort to continue it. He said that the government has facilitated the operation of the economic zone SEZ and the construction of the Motipur Industrial Zone in Butwal will also be started soon.
Chairman Krishna Prasad Parajuli said that only 500 domestic industries will be represented in this exhibition that will be held from Poush 3 to 17. Confederation of Nepalese Industries Lumbini President Ejaz Alam said that the government has not been able to work on the management of the industrial sector.
Butwal Sub-metropolitan City Mayor Khelraj Pandey complained that the federal government did not coordinate with the local government in development plans and said that the Finance Minister should pay attention to the issue of a lot of budget being returned.
Former Minister Bhoj Prasad Shrestha, District Coordination Chief Umakanta Chapai, Butwal Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Hari Aryal, Rupandehi Journalists Federation President Dinesh Pandey, and others expressed their best wishes at the program.
