Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure, Transport and Urban Development Kulman Ghising has assured that a new bridge will be built at Jabdighat, connecting Gulariya and Barbardiya municipalities. Minister Ghising inspected the collapsed bridge at Jabdighat on Thursday morning before its inauguration and assured that a new bridge will be built.

"There have been cases filed in many places including the court and the authority regarding the collapsed bridge. It is delayed because it is under investigation, which is why a proposal has been made to build a new bridge and we have sent it to the Ministry of Finance for approval," Minister Ghising said. "We will start the tender for the new bridge immediately after getting the approval from the Ministry of Finance."

The flood in the Babai River on August 28, 2074 BS washed away the bridge at Jabdighat connecting Gulariya and Barbardiya municipalities. The flood on August 20, 2079 BS washed away the collapsed span, blocking traffic. Since the bridge is not being reconstructed, the people of Barbardiya are forced to travel by boat to the district headquarters Gulariya and pay for it. The bridge was built by a construction company.

Minister Ghising also monitored the under-construction canal and the embankment of Budhi Khola in Gulariya Municipality-1 on Thursday morning. Similarly, on Wednesday, Minister Ghising laid the foundation stone of a suspension bridge at Daulatpur Ghat on the Karnali River connecting Rajapur Municipality-1 Daulatpur and Tikapur Municipality-5 Tikapur Park in Kailali.
