A man from Dafaiya, Barbardiya Municipality-10, died after being attacked by a leopard on Wednesday afternoon.
One person has died in a leopard attack. Dinesh Tharu, 32, of Dafaiya, Barbardiya Municipality-10, died in a leopard attack on Wednesday afternoon.
Gopal Chaudhary, Senior Forest Officer of the Division Forest Office, said that a report has been received that a Tharu who had gone to Simrawa Community Forest in Barbardiya Municipality-10 was attacked by a leopard while he was defecating in the forest. “Forest staff have been deployed at the scene. Preparations are being made to place a cage to contain the leopard,” he said.
DSP Devendra Kumar Malla informed that the body of the Tharu was found with his chest, neck and left thigh eaten.
On November 12, 59-year-old Gopi Tharu of Barbardiya Municipality-11 was killed in a leopard attack while he was cutting grass in the Kala Belbhar Community Forest. Similarly, on November 16, 18-year-old Ajita Tharu of Barbardiya Municipality-4 was injured when a leopard attacked him while he was sitting on the straw while he was going to collect straw kept near his house.
In the current fiscal year, four people, three women and one man, have died and seven others have been injured in leopard attacks, according to the Division Forest Office. The general public has become panicked as leopard attacks have increased in recent times.
