The Bardiya District Court has remanded two people to prison for trial on charges of arson, vandalism, and looting during the protests on Bhadra 10.
The court has said that five people have been released on bail on charges of involvement in the incident.
The police had filed a criminal and criminal nuisance case against seven people, including two, on charges of vandalism, looting and arson at the party offices of UML, Congress, the office of Gulariya Municipality and the house of former minister Sanjay Gautam.
The district court sent Ronak Gupta alias Ronak Porwar of Gulariya-4 and Ashrad Pathan of Gulariya-7 to jail for remand, Shrestedar Kamal Ghale said. He said that a single bench of District Judge Manoj Shrestha had released Salim Gaddi of Gulariya-11 on bail of Rs 60,000 in the same case.
Shrestedar Ghale said that Irfan Manihar of Gularia-6 was released on bail of Rs 125,000, Nadim Shesh Mansur of the same place was released on bail of Rs 50,000, Mohammad Zaid Shesh was released on bail of Rs 50,000, and Raju Qureshi was released on bail of Rs 100,000. Police said that a case has been filed against 16 people involved in the incident. Nine more are still absconding.
