A young woman has been injured in a leopard attack. 18-year-old Ajita Tharu of Barbardiya Municipality-4 was injured in a leopard attack on Tuesday evening. Police Inspector Prakash Singh Karki has informed that the young woman suffered serious injuries to both her hands when the leopard attacked her.
Zanjir Tharu said that a leopard sitting on the straw attacked his daughter when he went to collect straw from a field near his house.
‘There is straw in a field in the middle of the village, and his 13-year-old daughter Anusa and 18-year-old Ajita had gone to collect straw. As soon as they reached the straw, the leopard sitting on the straw attacked them,’ he said. ‘When the leopard attacked his sister, Anusa screamed loudly and the leopard ran away.’ He said that he returned home on Tuesday night after receiving treatment at Bardiya Hospital.
Last Friday, 59-year-old Gopi Tharu of Barbardiya Municipality-11 was killed in a leopard attack while he was cutting grass in the Kala Belbhar Community Forest.
