The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority has filed a corruption case against seven people in the Special Court.
The Commission has filed a case against the then Chief Administrative Officers Ramchandra Dhakal, Krishna Prasad Timilsina and Parmeshwar Yadav, the then Accounts Officer Prakash Gautam, Accountant Tulsiram Poudel and Accounts Assistant Giriraj Gautam on charges of providing additional paychecks against the rules even when the old paychecks were not paid and aiding in the embezzlement of government funds in collusion.
The Commission has filed a case today on charges of embezzling the paycheck amount taken by Yadav, an officer working in the rural municipality, for running various health-related programs without completing the work and without submitting the bill. The Commission has stated that Yadav has embezzled government property worth 4.6 million seven thousand rupees from the paychecks he repeatedly took from the fiscal year 2075/76 to 2078/79 without submitting the bill and without returning the amount.
The Commission has demanded imprisonment and fines as per the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2059.
Similarly, two foreign nationals who had arrived from Bangkok, Thailand with marijuana were arrested at the Tribhuvan International Airport on Sunday. Both of the arrested had arrived in Kathmandu from Bangkok on a Nepal Airlines flight. Malaysian citizen Bacha Murugan and Sri Lankan citizen Mohammad Asan Alaladin, 33, were arrested by the police on Sunday with four kilograms 125 grams of marijuana.
