Dalit women representatives form district-level common platform

A district-level common platform for Dalit women representatives has been formed. The common platform has been formed by including women representatives from all eight municipalities in the district.

The gathering held in Gulariya on Tuesday elected Chandrakala BK as the coordinator, Bimala Pariyar as the co-coordinator, and Pooja Sunar as the secretary. Similarly, an 11-member district working committee, including eight members, has been formed.

Hima Sunar, president of the Dalit Women's Association, said that the district-level common forum was formed with the aim of unifying Dalit public representatives at the local level on the issues of Dalit women and creating an environment of unity, coordination, and cooperation among them.

'They will continue to advocate for the formulation of the Dalit Empowerment Bill,' she said. 'Along with the Dalit Empowerment Bill, a common forum is needed to spread awareness in villages for planning and budget allocation.'
