Two arrested for assaulting a young man in Bhurigaun

Police have arrested two people on charges of seriously injuring a 38-year-old youth in Bhurigaun, Thakurbaba Municipality-1. Police have filed a case against six more people and are searching for them, the police said.

Ramesh Timilsina, 38, of Bhurigaun, Thakurbaba Municipality-1, was injured in a beating on Sunday night. Police said that Timilsina, who had gone to live in the house where he died due to old age, was beaten up by a group of 10/15 people including Tarka Bhandari, 25, of Gidarpur, Thakurbaba-3, at 12:30 that night. Locals said that he was shot. Police said that he was hit on the body and head with an iron rod and beaten. The doctor said that no bullet fragments were found, said DSP Devendra Bahadur Malla, Information Officer of the District Police Office, Bardiya.

It is not yet clear what the dispute was about. DSP Malla said that 20-year-old Prakash Saud of the same Municipality-3 and 34-year-old Suresh Kurmi of the same Municipality-1 have been arrested and a case has been filed. "He is being treated in the ICU at the Teaching Hospital in Kohalpur, Timilsina," he said. "A search is underway as six more people involved in the incident have absconded."

Locals have been blocking the highway for 1 to 2 hours every morning demanding action against all the culprits in the incident. Jeevan Shahi, former president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Bhurigaun, said that if the culprits involved in the incident are not arrested immediately and action is not taken, they will protest at the District Administration Office, Bardiya.
