Durga statue is being immersed in Bhadaghat of Babai river at Gulria in Bardia with tight security arrangements. The immersion of the statue, which started on Thursday afternoon, continued till late at night.

A large number of devotees came from villages in tractors, jeeps and on foot during the immersion of the idol. The devotees reached the ghat by placing the idol of Durga on the tractor. Devotees reached the Ghat dancing to the tune of religious songs by DJ Sound.

Strict security arrangements have been made through Gulria Bazar to the ghat. Nepal Police and Armed Police patrolled to prevent any untoward incident. Traffic has been affected for some time due to the immersion of the statue. Chief District Officer Surendra Paudel said that Durga Puja was performed at around 97 places in Gulria, the headquarters this year.

About 12,000 more devotees in Gulria  He reached the Bhada Ghat and participated in the immersion of the statue. Strict security has been maintained in sensitive areas. According to the police, 87 idols were viewed till 8 pm.
