This year Ram Leela will not be staged in Banke's Nepalganj. On the occasion of every Vijayadashami, Ramlila was staged at Ramlila Maidan in Nepalganj.

This year, the organizers had to postpone the staging of Ramlila due to insecurity. Santosh Kumar Kanodia, chairman of the Ramlila management committee, said that the Ramlila was postponed due to insecurity as criminal elements are increasing. The presence of the police is not visible. There was not as much patrolling as it should have been during the night. Therefore, we have come to the conclusion that instead of taking risks, let's celebrate only by killing Ravana,'' President Kanodia said, "Even though there is no full program of Ramlila Manchan, preparations are being made for the killing of Ravana, which will be held on the last day."

In Nepalgunj, starting from Ghatasthapana and ending on the Dashami day, the character drama of Rama based on Ramayana is staged. Tourists from India along with the city dwellers to see the stage  They gather at the Ramlila Maidan. Ramlila is staged till midnight. 

As Ramlila will be staged at night, the organizers say that the security arrangements should be made accordingly.

The residents of the city are not happy when the night-time Ramlila, which has been established as an important part of Nepalgunj's historical and cultural activities, has stopped. But they say that it is appropriate to postpone the program in the current environment. Nandalal Vaishya, a businessman from Nepalganj, said that the best option is to stop the program when there is no security situation.
