A girl died of scrub typhus in Rainadevi Chhahara rural municipality-1, Siddheshwar of Palpa. 12-year-old Asmita Kumal, studying in class 7 of Vedavedang Sanskrit and General Secondary School in Siddheshwar, died due to scrub typhus.

She got treatment from a local drug store after she developed a persistent fever and cold. But after the condition did not improve, he was taken to the primary health center in Rurukshetra, Gulmi. Information Officer of Health Office Palpa Madhusudan Bhattarai informed that his oxygen level was low during treatment there.

According to him, he was sent to Palpa for further treatment because he was not taken to the hospital on time, he had various health problems and was confirmed positive for scrub typhus. But while being taken for treatment, the girl fainted on the way and died when she was taken to the hospital.

According to Bhattarai, 238 scrub typhus patients have been found positive in Palpa till August 6 this year. This data was collected from places like Palpa Hospital, Lumbini Medical College, United Mission Hospital and Rampur Hospital.

He asked to consult a doctor as soon as the symptoms of scrub typhus appear and warned not to take medicine without a doctor's recommendation because it is life-threatening because of taking medicine normally from the drug store or doing helcycles.

According to Jeevan Rana, Head of Rainadevi Chhahara Rural Municipality Health Branch, 48 scrub typhus patients have been confirmed since July alone. Headache, high fever, rash around the neck and throat are the main symptoms of scrub typhus.
