The Ministry of Health of Lumbini Province has transferred 70 health workers at once. According to the decision of the secretary level of the ministry, the health workers from the fourth level to the eighth level working in different districts have been transferred.

The transferees include medical officers working in various hospitals to HAs. According to the ministry's senior health education administrator and spokesperson, Nodnarayan Chaudhary, 70 health workers including 2 medical officers, 4 senior nursing officers, and 1 public health officer have been transferred by the decision of the secretary level of the ministry on August 6. The Ministry has also transferred 7 people towards Ayurveda medicine. 15 officers including 1 Ayurveda doctor have been transferred.

"It has been decided to transfer 70 people comprising of 9 people from the eighth level, 6 people from the seventh level, 32 people from the sixth level, 20 people from the fifth level and 3 people from the fourth level," he said. Jyoti Poudel, working as senior nursing officer in Lumbini Regional Hospital, has been transferred to Rolpa Hospital. Lakshmi Paudel working in Rolpa has been transferred to Lumbini Regional Hospital. Similarly, 5 health workers including Public Health Officer Pashupati Acharya have been sent to another remote district of Lumbini Province, Rukumpurva. Acharya has been transferred from Gulmi to Rukum East.

Health Minister Khem Bahadur Saru said that although the number of health workers who choose easy and large hospitals for transfer is large, the ministry prioritizes transfers by looking at hospitals that are remote and have a high patient population. "Looking at the situation of service delivery, we have assigned health workers according to rank and level," he said, "The pressure of transfer was naturally more for those who chose easy, the ministry has managed the transfer in such a way as to solve the problem as much as possible." He said that the ministry has transferred more health workers of medical officers, public health inspectors, Ayurveda, medical inspectors, dental, lab technicians, radiography inspectors, staff nurses, radiographers, HA and others. Hospitals such as Lumbini Regional Hospital in Butwal, Rapti Regional Hospital in Dang, Bhim Hospital Bhairahawa, Prithvichandra Hospital West Nawalparasi and others are still under pressure.

When health workers choose accessible areas, there are more health workers in city hospitals and there are no health workers in remote districts. But in the current transfer, efforts have been made to end such problems, said Chowdhury, the spokesperson of the ministry.
