On Friday evening, 45-year-old Jagatarani Tharu was killed by a leopard when she was plowing paddy in the western field of Bhainsahi village, Gularia Municipality-12. Tharu's dead body was found on Saturday morning after being dragged from the paddy field and taken to a sugarcane field for a hundred meters. Now the body of the woman has been kept in Bardia Hospital.
Relatives and villagers pressured the administration on Sunday afternoon to take control of the leopard because it was spreading panic around the village.
When a woman was eaten by a leopard when she went to the farm, the local people became panicked . Ram Kumar Tharu, Ward President of Gularia Municipality-12, said that there is a strong possibility that leopards can attack school-going children and that they have submitted a memorandum to the chief district officer demanding immediate control of the problematic leopards. "We have submitted seven points of demand in the memorandum to Prazia," President Tharu said, "It is necessary for the concerned body to address the community's demand immediately."
They have demanded that the troubled leopard should be taken under immediate control and Jiuzyan protected, compensation should be provided to the deceased family according to the law, provision of 10 cages to control the leopard, and the body should not be taken until the leopard is controlled.
Information Officer of Division Forest Office Ramkumar Choudhary informed that a cage was placed in the area of the incident on Saturday to control the problematic leopard.
