Babai Irrigation Project, a national pride, which started construction 35 years ago, has provided irrigation facilities in an area of 27,330 hectares. 34.5 km of Eastern Main Canal and 31.6 km of Western Main Canal have been completed.

Similarly, the project has completed 321.5 km of branch and branch canals. Last year, 386.79 land was acquired. 1/1 construction of head box and siphon has been completed.

Since the beginning of the project, 18 billion 96 million 3 million 44 thousand and the total expenditure has been 15 billion 47 million 81 thousand. .

The project head Shushil Devkota said that the physical progress is 82.27 percent and the financial progress is 81.58 percent. Work has started at a fast pace to complete the Babai irrigation project within time. According to the technicians of the project, the possibility of completion on time has increased after the work of West Main Canal under the Babai Irrigation Project of National Pride has gained momentum.

21 thousand hectares on the east side and east  According to the project, the goal of the plan is to provide irrigation to 15,000 hectares of land. Devkota, the head of the project, said that the canal construction is going on at a fast pace with the aim of providing irrigation to 9,000 hectares of Gulria municipality, "Since the land has been acquired by paying compensation and there is no dispute, the construction of the canal will be done at a fast pace." The work of the project will be completed after the construction of the canal in Gularia.'

In 2007, the physical structure was swept away by the severe flood, and the work was delayed due to the earthquake and Covid-19. According to the project, the canal construction work has been progressed to be completed within time. The goal was to complete the canal by the year 075.

Due to blockade, epidemic, flood and compensation problems, the deadline has been extended and the goal is to complete the work by FY 082/083. Devkota, the head of the project, said that if there is no other reason, the work will be completed within time and irrigation facilities will be provided in 36 thousand hectares.

Nirankar Yadav, a farmer of Gulria-3, said that he was happy with the construction of the canal. "There is no water in the canal in Babai river for twelve months," he said, "The government should build the Bheri, Babai diversion soon." According to the project, 60 cubic meters of water is required for adequate irrigation. Due to the Babai Khare river, there is enough water in the rainy season. There will be sufficient irrigation for 12 months after the construction of Bheri Babai diversion is completed.

In this region, where rice, wheat and mustard are grown a lot, due to lack of water, farmers are forced to rely on sky and pump sets.
