Police have arrested a woman from Dang, who has been absconding for 23 years in the murder case. DSP Chakra Bahadur Shah, spokesperson of District Police Office Dang, said that he was arrested from Kathmandu-26, New Bus Park on Tuesday.
50-year-old Vasantha Sharma Pandit of Garhwa Rural Municipality-7 Manpur had killed her stepson and escaped. On 19 June 2059, Pandit killed 9-year-old Sharad Sharma with a stick inside her own house. After the murder, she buried the body in Malkhad.
Dang District Court sentenced him to 2 years imprisonment on 26 October 2060. Dissatisfied with the decision, when he appealed, the Tulsipur Court of Appeal sentenced him to 10 years imprisonment on 3rd January 2060.
Pandit, who was absconding after the verdict, was found in Kathmandu by the police team deployed from the area police office Garhwa, Dang. It has been revealed that he has been living with his son Keshavraj Sharma in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-9, Gongbu for 23 years. DSP Shah said that Pandit, who was arrested with the help of District Police Complex Kathmandu, was sent to Dang District Court to pay the prison sentence.
