After the water level in the Rapti River crossed the warning level, some local levels of Banke sounded sirens and asked the villages in the coastal area to be alert.

Rupan Gyawali, Information Management Officer of the District Disaster Management Committee informed that Raptisonari, Narainapur and Duduwa Rural Municipality have sounded alert sirens to the coastal villages of the district.

He said, 'Due to continuous rains, the water level in the Rapti River has crossed the warning level, a notice has been issued to the villages in the coastal area of Banke to be alert.'

Information officer Gyawali said that since the water level of the West Rapti River Rapti Sonari Hydromeasuring Center in the district has crossed the warning level, a notice has been issued to the residents of the coastal area and areas prone to flooding.

According to West Rapti River Rapti Sonari Hydromeasuring Center, now the Rapti River has crossed the warning level of 4 meters 70 centimeters and has reached 4 meters 86 centimeters. He said that the local disaster management committee has also been instructed to be on alert by alerting the locals in all places where there may be danger.

Information officer Gyawali said that all the villages around the river have been alerted to the rising water level. According to the District Disaster Management Committee, the flood measuring center of the Rapti river in Kusum area of Banke has informed that the water level is approaching the alert point.

Information management officer Gyawali said that after crossing six meters at the Kusum water measuring station, a warning will be issued, as the water level there has reached five meters and 74 centimeters.

The chief district officer of Banke, Dharmaraj Joshi, mentioned that even though the Rapti river has not passed the danger level, the surrounding areas have been asked to be vigilant and said that the teams of security agencies have been mobilized to prevent damage to the Rapti river.

He said, "There was a general flood in Narainapur, there is work going on to take the goods to a safe place."
