In the district, free cataract surgery was done for 35 people from poor families on the same day. At the Nepal Red Cross Society Sivaganga Eye Hospital in Gularia Municipality-6, 35 people underwent cataract surgery using the SICS technique on Friday.

People who came blind and took the help of others have happily walked back after successful surgery. People who underwent cataract surgery on Friday were happy when the bandages were removed from their eyes on Saturday morning. When they opened their eyes, which had not been seen for years, they exchanged happiness with each other.

71-year-old Labari Tharu of Baghaiyatal Rural Municipality-9 Janta Nagar said that she was very happy to see the world again with her eyes that had stopped seeing the world for the past few months. "I saw my eyes after many days," she said, "now the need to take someone's help to move around the house and yard is gone." "The left eye, which has been good for the past two years, has also become dim and has completely lost its sight for the past two months," he said.

57-year-old Amlavar Chauhan of Gulria Municipality-9 Tepri was also suffering from cataracts since two years ago. She returned happily after free surgery on her left eye on Friday. Similarly, 65-year-old Jiriya Tharuni of Madhuvan Municipality-4 Badarbharia was suffering from cataracts for the past few years. She said that she saw brighter after the eye surgery.

The manager of Sivaganga Eye Hospital, Hari KC, said that 35 people underwent free cataract surgery on Friday with the help of Ruit Foundation. "In the fiscal year 2081/082, 1,314 people underwent free cataract surgery," said Manager Casey, "in which 664 people received free cataract surgery with the help of the Root Foundation and 650 people received free cataract surgery with the help of Ferit Hallows Australia."

457 people underwent surgery after paying the fee. Records of Sivaganga Eye Hospital confirm that last year, 19 thousand 45 people out of 4 thousand 447 people from 36 free cataract selection camps in different municipalities of the district were examined.

With the support of Ruit Foundation and the coordination and technical support of Nepal Red Cross Society Sivaganga Eye Hospital, the free camp will be operated until next December. If the free camp had not been conducted, 4 thousand 800 rupees would have been spent for one person to undergo cataract surgery using SICS technology.

Since the end of the last financial year, eye surgery has also been started at Sivaganga Eye Hospital using Feco (computer) technology, said Manager KC. Previously, patients undergoing eye surgery using the Feco technique had to go outside.
