42 people got non-resident Nepali citizenship certificate

During two years, 48 people in Palpa have given up their Nepali citizenship certificates. According to the District Administration Office Palpa, 17 people renounced their Nepali citizenship in the financial year 2081/82 and 31 in the previous year 2080/81.

Dinesh Gyawali, Officer of Citizenship Branch of District Administration Office Palpa, said that many may have renounced Nepali citizenship to avoid legal difficulties and to avoid the situation of dual citizenship. There is a provision that permanent residents abroad have to renounce their Nepali citizenship when taking citizenship there.
According to the provisions after the amendment of the Citizenship Act enacted in 2079, non-resident Nepali citizenship To get it, you have to take foreign citizenship and live in a country other than SAARC. Similarly, proof that the applicant's father or mother, grandfather or grandmother is a Nepali citizen is mandatory. Apart from that, there is a provision to submit proof of citizenship of a foreign country and residence in a country outside the SAARC region.
In 2081/82, 17 people from Palpa have taken non-resident Nepali citizenship certificates. In the previous year 2080/81, 25 people took it. According to official Gyawali, in 2081/82, 11 Indian citizens have obtained Nepalese citizenship through marriage recognition. Likewise, a European citizen has also taken citizenship through marriage. All of them got citizenship by marrying a Nepalese youth.
Similarly, in the financial year 2081/82, 14 thousand 903 people have taken new citizenship from Tansen and 4 thousand 59 people from local administration office at Rampur. 5 thousand 306 people from Tansen and 1 thousand 692 people from Rampur have taken copy citizenship.
