One person from Rukum East has died and three others have fallen ill after eating wild mushrooms. 3-year-old Yojan Vick, one of the members of the same family of Bhume rural municipality-5 Serabang, died during treatment.

His mother 35-year-old Ramkumari Sunar, her daughters 9-year-old Ayusha Vick and 6-year-old Bhagyarekha Vick are ill, the police said.

District Police Chief DSP Uma Shankar Prasad Yadav said that four people from the same family fell ill after eating mushrooms picked from the forest last Friday and they arrived at the district hospital in Rukumkot on Monday after 3 days. According to him, Yojana Wik died while being taken to Dang in an ambulance, except for Ayusha, on Tuesday, as the treatment could not be done even in the district hospital.

Mother Ram Kumari and daughter Bhagyarekha have been taken to Dang today for further treatment. And another daughter, Ayusha Vick, is being treated at Rukum West District Hospital, DSP Yadav said, "The condition of the 2 people who were taken to Dang is critical and the condition of the patient being treated at Rukum West is moderate."
