Due to the incessant rains that started on Saturday, one person was killed when a landslide fell in the Uwa area of Northeast Rolpa.

According to the police, 72-year-old Gothe Ghartimar, a local cowherd, died when a landslide fell on his house at Thapakhark, Thabang Rural Municipality-4, Uwa, around 6 pm on Saturday. His house was built of stone and mud

When it was raining heavily, he was inside the house and the house was washed away and brought under 30 meters . The other 5 members of the family were out of the house at the time of the incident and were in a safe condition, said Hikmatsingh Ghartimar, the chairman of the ward.

According to the Information Officer of District Police Office, Rohit Kumar Shahi, the body was pulled out from the landslide around 3:30 pm on Sunday. A team headed by Ramu Paudel, the in-charge police inspector of Thabang area police office and Arun Tamang, the in-charge police inspector of Sulichour area police, has gone to Uwa to further investigate the incident. The incident site is about 60 meters northeast of Rolpa headquarters Libang.

scene  Ward president Ghartimagar said that there was a problem in taking the body to the hospital for post-mortem as it was in a remote area. He said that it was coordinated with the security officers in the district because it would be easier to take them to the hospital in the neighboring district of Rukum East.
