Thakurbaba Municipality is surrounded by parks and intermediate areas on three sides. Out of 9 wards of Thakurbaba Municipality, 8 wards are surrounded by Bardia National Park and intermediate area. As a result, the conflict between wildlife and humans is increasing in this area.
Wild animals such as elephants cause damage to the crops planted by the locals and also cause human damage from time to time. According to the demands of the local people in this area, the park and organizations tried various ways to prevent the wild animals from entering the settlement, but it was not stopped. Locals have said that damage to crops from wild animals is reducing in the area where the municipality has built a wall.
The Thakurbaba Municipality is constructing an elephant barrier wall in the affected area. Budhram Tharu of Thakurbaba Municipality-4 Sainwar said that due to the wall constructed by the municipality, wild animals could not damage the crops in this area. "Locals were overcome when wild animals caused damage to crops," he said, "There is hope that there will be no damage to crops after check fence." "The municipality is surrounded by about 32 kilometers of forest," Deputy Chief Bhattarai said, "In the financial year 081/082, we have constructed 2,331 meters of elephant fencing walls in Ward No. 1, 4 and 7. So far, 11 kilometers of fencing walls have been constructed in various places." Deputy Chief Bhattarai said that resources have been secured for the construction of 5 km Chekbar wall in the financial year 082/083.
