Madhuvan municipality has been cutting down the trees on the government land. Green teak and Sisau trees on the land of Cotton Development Committee located in Madhuvan-8 Durgapur were arbitrarily cut.

Despite the fact that there is a road all around the 3 bigha land, the Cotton Development Committee alleges that the municipality is trying to create a road by cutting the government land.  Birendraraj Parajuli, the executive director of the Cotton Development Committee, said that the tree on the government land was felled without consultation. "We have a portion of the said land," he said, "however, Madhuvan is trying to make a road for the purpose of digging it up, alleging encroachment."

The municipality felled the tree by throwing the barbed wire we put on the land. He said, "I have submitted a written application to the district administration and division forest office for necessary action." The municipality has vigorously planted 27 large green teak and sisau trees.'

"The police administration should look into this matter," he said, "We have received a letter from the administration to assess how many trees have been cut, we have started work, and we are ready to submit the assessment report to the administration in a few days."

Mek Bahadur Gurung, the ward president and city spokesperson of Madhuvan Municipality-8, where the trees were felled, claimed that although there is no road on the land on the map, the city council decided to build a road as per the people's demand.
