Preparations are being made to pass the budget of Lumbini province for the next financial year today. In the 16th meeting of the sixth session of the Provincial Assembly, which started today, it has been agreed between the parties of the ruling coalition to pass the budget after the ministerial discussion.
In the meeting to be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, Provincial Assembly Secretary Durbham Kumar Punamar has said that there is an agenda for group discussions on various ministries and topics on the bill made to make provisions regarding the allocation and spending of funds from the Provincial Reserve Fund for the services and works of the upcoming fiscal year 2082/083. Chief Minister Chetan Narayan Acharya and Economic Affairs and Planning Minister Dhanendra Karki will answer the questions raised during the discussion.
The government is preparing to amend the Economic Act from the meeting of the Provincial Assembly on Wednesday. After the amendment of the Finance Act, preparations have been made to pass the list of plans of the members of the Provincial Assembly that were missed during the preparation of the budget. There was an agreement between the ruling MPs, Ministers, Planning Ministers and Chief Ministers to pass the budget and plans simultaneously by including the missing plans from the state assembly.
According to that, the discussion on the budget has been started from Tuesday after agreeing to pass the missing plans from the provincial assembly and to manage the budget by amending the financial act and transferring the funds in the first quarter.
Physical Infrastructure Development Minister Bhumishwar Dhakal has said that the theoretical discussion on the budget is over and after the ministerial discussion, the budget will be passed after the Minister of Economic Affairs gives an answer. Opposition parties are constantly protesting over the
budget. The opposition, including the Maoist center, is demanding that the budget be rewritten. He boycotted Tuesday's discussion after the government did not agree to the opposition's demand. But after the Democratic Samajwadi Party (LOSP), which supports the government, withdrew its support on Tuesday and sat in the opposition, the discussion on the budget went ahead.
Lumbini state government has brought a budget of 38 billion 91 million rupees for the coming year. In the said budget, 23 billion 47 million 14 lakh 65 thousand have been allocated for capital, 12 billion 147 million 86 thousand for current, and 3 billion 42 million 37 million 49 thousand for financial transfer to the local level. The
budget aims to collect 7.78 billion 4 lakh revenue from internal sources and mobilize 2 billion surplus for the current year.
