The Rurukshetra rural municipality of Gulmi has signed a scheme pension agreement for women community health volunteers. An agreement was reached between the rural municipality and the Citizen Investment Fund after signing a memorandum of understanding to provide pensions to health volunteers.
Lakshman Pandey, the chief administrative officer of the rural municipality, informed that the rural municipality will deposit 10,000 rupees per year for the per-volunteers of 77 people in the current financial year 2081/082 starting from July. Pandey said that a pension scheme has been started so that health volunteers who have worked as health volunteers for at least 15 years and reach the age of 60 will get pension.
There are currently 77 health volunteers in the rural municipality. They are under the control of the health post and are engaged in all kinds of services at the ground level of health, including vaccination, pregnant women and nutrition.
There are 9 health institutions in Rurukshetra including 1 primary health center, 6 health posts and 2 Ayurveda dispensaries. Currently, the health volunteers get only Rs 1,000 per month for travel expenses from the federal government and Rs 500 per month for communication expenses from the local municipality. After joining the pension plan, the municipality expects that the health volunteers will get a big relief after their retirement.
Rurukshetra rural municipality chairman Yadu Gyawali and executive director of Citizen Investment Fund Parbat Kumar Karki have signed a memorandum of understanding regarding the operation of the health volunteer's citizen pension scheme. According to this plan, the rural municipality will spend 7 lakh 70 thousand rupees annually for health volunteers. The amount which will be collected in the Citizen Investment Fund for now and will be received by health volunteers as pension in the future.
Executive Director of Citizen Investment Fund, Parbat Kumar Karki, said that Rurukshetra has put forward an effective plan for the social security of health volunteers, and this has become an example for all municipalities. He said that the pension will be provided from the dividend, interest rate and the amount deposited by the municipality of the Citizen Investment Fund. . Although it will be different in different ups and downs, according to the current situation, according to the amount collected by the Rurukshetra rural municipality, health volunteers will get a monthly pension of 1,500 to 2,000 rupees.
Rurukshetra rural municipality president Yadu Gyawali said that the pension plan has been advanced for the health volunteers who work in the community to increase morale. "After working hard now, there should be long-term benefits," he said, "We have brought this plan as an incentive for them (volunteers)." Along with the women community health volunteers, the rural municipality has now prepared to add contract employees of the municipality to this agreement.
