A detailed report prepared by the revenue reform task force has been handed over to the provincial government, pointing out the possibility that the internal revenue collection of Lumbini province can reach 10 billion rupees within three years.

The report prepared by the working group under the coordination of Economic Affairs and Planning Minister Dhanendra Karki was handed over to Chief Minister Chetnarayan Acharya at the office of Chief Minister and Council of Ministers in Rapti Valley (Deukhuri) on Thursday.

Chief Minister Acharya expressed his commitment to implement the recommendations of the report through the upcoming budget and programs. Compared to last year, we have increased the internal revenue by one and a half billion rupees. Now by removing the legal obstacles and widening the scope, it is possible to collect 10 billion revenue in three years," he said.

The

task force studied the province's revenue structure, rights, operations and potential resources. Suggested through the report. According to the report, revenue collection is projected to be 5.9 billion rupees in 2082/83, 6.67 billion rupees in 2083/84 and 10.2 billion rupees in 2085/86, including sharing with the local level.

The task force has identified various strategic areas to widen the scope of

revenue. It is proposed to make the tax system effective by expanding the scope of natural resources and construction materials (stone, gravel, soil, sand, etc.), tourist spots, casinos, hoarding boards, digital displays, street lights and advertisements on social media, bags and pouches used in plastic packaging, vehicle tax, agricultural income, etc.

Likewise, concrete steps have been recommended such as bringing real estate registration work under the provincial government, ensuring provincial representation in property valuation, preparing a legal basis for raising internal debt, amending the Tax and Non-Tax Revenue Act, adopting frugality in current expenditure and bringing the provincial project bank into operation.

Chief Minister Acharya directed the ministries to prepare a clear action plan for the implementation of the report.  "It is our determination to make Lumbini province economically independent by improving the revenue structure," he said.

On October 4, 2081, the Cabinet meeting formed a working group under the coordination of Economic Affairs and Planning Minister Dhanendra Karki. Three members of the provincial assembly, planning commission, and secretaries of all ministries were members of the working group. A task force was formed to study the current state of revenue in the province, identify potential sources along with the current overall state of revenue, the basis and scope of revenue mobilization and make suggestions for revenue enhancement.
