In Rolpa's Khumel, 110 people have fallen ill after eating food cooked on the occasion of the 13-day Poonya Tithi (purification). The visitors fell sick after eating the food prepared as prasad at the funeral of a local old man.

According to the police, out of 150 people who gathered and ate on Saturday on the occasion of Punya Tithi, 110 people fell ill. The patient was taken to Rolpa Hospital in Reugha for treatment till night.

Most of the patients were given primary treatment at the local health post. We sent many sick people to the hospital," said Police Inspector Vijay Chapagain, Information Officer of District Police Office Rolpa.

At the house of Tilprasad Roka located in Rolpa municipality-3 Chowrapani, a food program was organized on the occasion of the 13th anniversary of his great father Chitra Bahadur Roka. Those who had eaten had been sick since 3 pm. Most of the patients had vomited after eating pulses, vegetables, puri, pickles.

After the incident, 112 people were treated at the local health post, while 12 people in serious condition were sent to Rolpa Hospital late at night. Dr. Rishabh Gautam, a doctor at the

hospital, said that all the patients had food poisoning. For many people, there must have been a bacterial infection in the cooked food. After the treatment, the patient's condition is normal, said Dr. Gautam. According to him, the germs may have been infected due to failure to take precautions while preparing food for many people in the village.

Out of 12 people brought to the hospital, 4 people have been sent home after treatment and 8 people are still undergoing treatment. Most of the patients have problems with vomiting and diarrhea.
