5 camera traps have been placed around the spot after a 5-year-old girl Saira Tharu of Gularia Municipality-5 Balapur died in a leopard attack on Wednesday morning.

Cameras have been installed around the community forest of Balapur. A joint team of Bardia National Park and National Nature Conservation Fund, Bardia has constructed scaffolding along with cameras. 

Division Forest Office, Bardia has said that they are trying to control leopards by keeping goats in two crazes. Ajit Tumfa Hamphey, head of the National Nature Fund, said that two elephants were mobilized from the park to search for the leopard.

He said that he was trying to tame and control the leopard. Four technicians and two elephants of the park have been mobilized along with two veterinarians Dr. Vaktar Karki.

Badghar Kali Bahadur Chaudhary said that the residents of Gularia Ward No. 5 and 8 were terrified by the fear of leopards. He said that the children were afraid to go to school because of the leopards that killed people during the day.

9-year-old Melina Khadka died in the attack of a leopard in Sayu Community Forest located in Gulria-8 on 15th Baisakh. Since last December, four people have died in Bardiya due to leopard attacks. During this period, 16 people were injured in leopard attacks, according to the Division Forest Office.
