Border market Krishnanagar was closed on Monday on the call of Krishnanagar Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Ritesh Sharma, president of the association, said that the armed police closed the market on Monday, alleging that the armed police had caused unnecessary suffering to the common people, small businessmen and traders around Krishnanagar.

The market is completely closed. Private and hire vehicles are not running . When the market is closed, the border market Krishnanagar is deserted.

For a few days now, when the farmers bring fertilisers, wedding goods and retailers, the armed police have been arresting them under the pretext of investigation and giving them unnecessary trouble by paying the customs, Chairman Sharma said.

Janata Samajwadi Party Krishnanagar Nagar Committee Chairman Jagdish Chaudhary expressed solidarity with the protest by businessmen against the working style of the armed police.

After the armed police seized 32 sacks of urea fertilizer on suspicion of smuggling in Bahadurganj on 9th of June, the armed police force is now protesting. The locals took the urea fertilizer from the armed vehicle and spread it on the road.
