Rohini Rural Municipality of Ruppandehi has instructed to conduct compulsory schools from Sunday. The municipality has warned that teachers and staff will be punished if the school does not operate.
The teachers and employees of all the government schools within the municipality have been instructed through a notification to attend schools compulsorily from 14th Baisakh 2082.
Village Chairman Vidya Prasad Yadav said that since the 14th, the teachers have been directed to continue teaching and learning regularly, including publication of results, enrollment of students, distribution of textbooks, etc. "We will proceed with the necessary action against the teachers and staff who disobey the instructions," he said. "We cannot ignore the children's future and parents' requests."
Under the leadership of the Nepal Teachers' Federation, the teachers and staff have been continuously protesting since March 20. The municipality said that the long-term agitation is having a direct adverse effect on the educational future of the children studying in the school.
