Four hundred and two accidents have occurred in Lumbini province in a month. Dan Bahadur Karki, head of the provincial police office, said that 36 people died in 402 accidents in Chait in all 12 districts.
Compared to February, the number of deaths due to accidents has decreased in March. 39 people died in February. Ruppandehi and Dang had the highest number of deaths, 10 each, while the number of deaths in Palpa, Rolpa and Rukum East was zero.
Seven people were killed in Banke, three each in Kapilvastu, Bardia, Nawalparasi West and Arghakhanchi, two in Pyuthan and one in Gulmi, said Karki, the head of the state police office. In addition, 745 people were injured in the accident. Motorcycles are the most involved in
accidents. Provincial police chief Karki said that 60 percent of motorcycle accidents happen. According to him, 4.36 percent of accidents occurred in buses, 8.71 percent of cars and jeeps, 2.61 percent of trucks, tankers, 1.22 percent of micros, 1.92 percent of tippers, 4.70 percent of tractors, 7.49 percent of tampo and 8.01 percent of bicycles.
Provincial police chief Karki said that there are many accidents due to the road and the driver. According to him, in many places of Lumbini, the road has not been upgraded and potholes have increased many accidents.
