Guruba of the Tharu community has worshiped elephants to maintain coexistence between humans and elephants. Elephant pooja was performed on Tuesday morning at Thakurbaba Municipality-9 Hattisar under the leadership of Bardia National Park.

Local Tharu gurubas (priests) performed pooja to appease the elephant. The elephants in Hattisar have been worshiped by feeding fruits such as sugarcane, bananas and bananas.

There is a majority of Tharu community around Bardiya National Park . As a result, the Tharu community is directly affected by elephants. As the elephant is associated with the Tharu culture, the elephant is worshiped using the Tharu Guruba in the place of Hattigaj. Guruba Thakur Prasad Tharu of the Tharu community said that it is believed that if elephants are worshiped, the elephants will calm down and will not cause human harm.

"We can touch, feel, greet and worship elephants with our heart," he said, "but their existence in the forest is in danger." Hemant Acharya, president of youth mobilization, said that there is a custom of worshiping elephants by trampling a pig on the day of Dasain in Hattisar. "First it used to be a big fair," he said, "it was closed for a while, since 2071, we have been doing Elephant Festival and other cultural programs without trampling pigs by elephants." In recent times, the conflict between humans and wild animals is increasing . He said that after the year 2073, with the help of the local Guruba, a special elephant worship was started to reduce the conflict between humans and elephants.

The 30th Wildlife Week has started from Monday with the slogan 'Understand the behavior of wild animals, reduce conflict and harm with humans'. On the second day, elephant pooja is performed on Tuesday. The park is preparing to hold a week-long program with various programs for seven days .
